Middlesex County, Massachusetts was created on May 10, 1643. The county originally included Charlestown, Cambridge, Watertown, Sudbury, Concord, Woburn, Medford, Wayland, and Reading.
Robert Robbins was born about 1648.
He married Mary Maxwell in 1671 in Concord, Middlesex, Massachusetts. The marriage was performed by Justice Minott. She was born February 1647/48 in Chelmsford.

In 1676 Robert served under Captain John Cutler at Hassanamesit, now Grafton, Massachussetts.
In the 1680s the family settled at Groton, where Robert Robbins and Peleg Lawrence bought land from the Nashobah People in 1686.
On March 17, 1691/2, Robert and his family were listed in John Davis' garrison in the southeastern part of the town.
At a Groton town meeting on June 8, 1702, they voted to give three acres of meadow and ten of upland to 'robart robins Sener' if he would give his Indian land 'titels' to the town.
Robert Robbins, died about 1720 in Groton.
